Volunteer Research Assistants Needed for Active Misophonia Studies

The International Misophonia Foundation is currently seeking volunteer research assistants to support active misophonia research studies.

All studies are reviewed and approved by the International Misophonia Foundation Institutional Review Board (IRB).

  • This is unpaid volunteer work with a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We expect approximately 5 hours of work per week, with flexibility around scheduling. Most collaboration will take place through email and shared documents, with occasional Zoom calls as needed.
  • Volunteer hours can be formally documented and signed off on with an official letter from the International Misophonia Foundation.
  • Research assistants may receive contributor acknowledgement and, where their contributions meet established authorship criteria, authorship on resulting publications. Credit will reflect the nature and extent of each individual’s contribution.

 

The research is conducted under Principal Researcher Shaylynn Hayes-Raymond, MA.

 

Expected tasks and responsibilities may include:

  •     Assisting with research-related correspondence using approved study materials and under supervision
  •     Sending emails and posting study information, including graphics
  •     Posting recruitment advertisements
  •     Scoring data collected from studies
  •     Organizing research data and study information
  •     Fact-checking existing information and materials
  •     Assisting with general research administration and documentation
  •     Working confidently in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

Training and supervision will be provided for study-specific tasks and procedures. Research assistants will be expected to follow applicable confidentiality, data-handling, and research ethics requirements.

We are primarily seeking Master’s students or higher, although BA students with Honours in Psychology or a science-related field may be considered.
